Review on ๐Ÿฉณ Optimized Continental Competition Cycling Hose by Jyothish Pillai

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Replaced them with gp4000's which were great until major cracks appeared after about 6 months.

The first set I had was broken by a piece of glass before the tread wore out. After a short pit stop, I was able to start my journey home. Replaced these with gp4000's which were great until after about 6 months there were big cracks all over the sides which only got bigger - if you were so inclined you could take a piece and rip off the top layer. The gp4000 has never let me down, I only replaced it due to wear and tear which I felt was too soon. I installed the first set of contests at the store, they lasted about 2-3 months until they suddenly failed around the valve stem. I couldn't fix that with a pit stop - thanks to uber. I figured I'd replace the next pair myself to make sure there wasn't extra force applied to the valve area during installation or they weren't improperly pre-stretched. This couple failed on their first trip in the same area. I still can't figure out exactly why, but I'm not ready to go through the whole process again. I think that now I will stay away from the competition. I vaguely remember reading reviews like this a while ago, just thought it must be user error.

Pros
  • One year trial period
Cons
  • Negative impression
