Review on πŸ‘“ Eyekepper Metal Frame Spring Hinged Arms Reading Glasses - Valupac Metal Readers: 3 Pairs for Exceptional Value by Teresa Diers

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Amazing quality but one bad flaw

Come on $3 what can you expect?! This is a solid, well built pair of glasses at an amazing price with one very serious downside. If this defect occurs again, it means I will not be able to purchase from this company in the future. The downside is a very weak connection between the nose pad and the metal frame. The plastic nose pad has an extruded plastic eyelet (loop) that fits into a tiny open box that is part of a metal frame. The box has a screw that goes into a plastic loop and attaches to the opposite side of the box. The problem is that the embossed loop is very, very delicate. I've had these glasses for less than a week and I don't sit in them or abuse them. I've had occasions where the nose pads have fallen out of other glasses (maybe 20% of the glasses I have) but they can always be put back into the frame. Other goggles have a metal connector built into the pad, and the piece of metal is crimped into a sleeve that's part of the frame (hard to explain, but it's MUCH stronger than plastic). This eyekeeper design means that once a very thin loop is broken, repair is no longer possible. The glasses are unusable which is a shame as these glasses are otherwise of pretty good quality. A bad design ruins the whole product. The goggles are built to last, but the nosepiece connector is designed to fail after 1% of the product's expected life, so 99% of the product's life is wasted.

  • Great construction
Cons
  • Disappear
