Review on Hamilton Beach 1.7L Electric Tea Kettle: Cordless, Stainless Steel, Auto-Shutoff and Boil-Dry Protection by Dan Weeman

I bought this kettle hoping it would have everything I needed and it mostly did. FURTHERMORE. The day after the pot heated water, I accidentally touched the side of the pot for about 2-3 seconds. In that short time I got a painful red spot on my finger because the stainless steel was so hot. Luckily I didn't burn myself, but it still hurt. Upon reflection, I realized how dangerous this could be for future use. You can easily get serious burns if you accidentally touch the outside of the kettle. Why shouldn't the manufacturer take precautions to ensure that this does not endanger the user?! Not to mention that it can also easily melt objects that come into contact with the side, such as. a plastic container or bag, etc. There are no objects nearby that could melt on contact. I am returning this item for this reason alone - it is dangerous and unsafe to have on the counter as there is a risk of burns.
