Hamilton Beach 1.7L Electric Tea Kettle: Cordless, Stainless Steel, Auto-Shutoff and Boil-Dry Protection Review

Bought last June, broke today. Only worked well for 9 months. Apparently the temperature sensor is not working. Cannot heat water - after a few seconds it turns off, I pressed "on". My husband asked me to quickly get another kettle. I didn't dare to buy these again - I'll have to look elsewhere.

Shortly after using the kettle for the first time, I noticed water on the bottom (heating element) and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. It got worse and then I noticed water leaking out of the plastic water level indicator window on one side of the kettle. It stopped flowing after the water was heated (thank goodness, otherwise it could be dangerous), but I requested a replacement block. I will check the rating after replacing the kettle.

I need to buy a new kettle because I'm pretty sure this kettle has poisoned me with metal for the past few months (bought in October now August next year) . It's hard to tell from the photos - I've included one without water and one with water - but the bottom of the kettle will start to peel off over time and bits of metal end up in the water you pour. I would never write a bad review but this time I feel compelled to warn buyers. I bought this kettle at the end of 2019 and after 4 months I noticed several black dots on the bottom. I've cleaned it with vinegar, warm water, etc., but nothing helped. Then I realized they were actually mold stains! I did a little research and saw that many other people are having the same problem. I bought this kettle hoping it would have everything I needed and it mostly did. FURTHERMORE. The day after the pot heated water, I accidentally touched the side of the pot for about 2-3 seconds. In that short time I got a painful red spot on my finger because the stainless steel was so hot. Luckily I didn't burn myself, but it still hurt. Upon reflection, I realized how dangerous this could be for future use. You can easily get serious burns if you accidentally touch the outside of the kettle.

I have a friend who doesn't have a coffee pot. I can't imagine it myself.
