Review on Hamilton Beach 1.7L Electric Tea Kettle: Cordless, Stainless Steel, Auto-Shutoff and Boil-Dry Protection by Keith Iverson

I have a friend who doesn't have a coffee pot. I can't imagine it myself. However, she does have a kettle and keeps a selection of teas, hot chocolate mixes and instant coffees available for her guests. I often crave tea or coffee and don't need to brew a full pot, so an electric kettle is a great way to give me that. Sure, I can heat the water in the microwave, but that can be a hassle, especially if you're cooking more than one cup. Yes, I admit it. I was jealous of the teapot. So I decided to look for my own teapot. I had several requirements: I didn't want a plastic kettle, it should have an automatic shut-off and heat the water quickly. I stumbled across this little guy and it fits perfectly. All my appliances are stainless steel or black so this kettle looks great on my counter and can heat water anytime. I have teenagers so they always use boiling water for soup and pasta and everything and it works really well for that. I use it for tea, instant coffee and french press coffee. It's so convenient! The water is heating up so fast, even faster than I expected. It doesn't make any noise when the water is ready, but you can hear the water boiling and you can hear the kettle making a clicking sound as the water heats up. I have had several Hamilton Beach products and have always been happy with them. Hamilton Beach is synonymous with quality and this kettle did not disappoint. He feels very strong. Filled with water, it may have some weight, but that's not a big deal. That's about the weight of a full coffee pot. The kettle can get very hot on the outside, but the handle stays cool, which I like. I was pleasantly surprised at how long the water stayed warm afterward. My girlfriend saw this on my counter and couldn't believe I paid about as much for my kettle as she paid for her plastic kettle. I guess she has teapot envy now! I assume that she will buy this model very soon.
