Review on 💻 ASUS Chromebit CS10: Portable Stick-Desktop PC with RockChip 3288-C, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB Storage, and Google Chrome OS by Eric Rose

My expectations were pleasantly exceeded. I wanted another computer to replace my desktop, but I mostly use my laptop and have another laptop for work, so I couldn't justify the expense of a new computer that I don't really need. My job uses Google, and I've been a Google user since it was invitation-only, so I tried out a cheaper Chromebook (which I ended up gifting to my teenage niece) and looked at Chromeboxes, which were still a little pricey. what I wanted to spend. I was excited to discover Chromebit, but I was skeptical. I was worried about the speed based on some reviews, but since I wasn't planning on doing anything complicated with it, I decided to give it a try when the price dropped. It did, so I bought one. Setup was a lot easier than I expected - very intuitive. I use it with a wireless keyboard with an integrated trackpad. Using both Windows and Mac laptops, I'm missing some features when using Chrome OS Chromebit, but they are minor. I was most concerned about processing speed, so I once did a little Netflix marathon with a Chromebit. No problem. It worked perfectly except for a few minor freezes which I attribute to my internet connection, not Chromebit. Stuttering also occurred less frequently than when viewed on a computer, Apple TV, or tablet. Now that I know it's reliable, I might take it on a few trips this summer. Update: He worked at the same hotel but I probably wouldn't take him on a trip again. I took it on a week long trip I just got back from. I've stayed in three different hotels, all with wifi. At one hotel, the HDMI port was on a box of multimedia gadgets (sorry for my overly technical language, haha) where the HDMI port was slightly recessed, making it too small for the Chromebit to fully connect (an HDMI extension cable might have helped). ). At the second hotel (timeshare vacation) the Chromebit worked fine, although I only used it for Netflix and online music videos. At the third hotel, the chain pretty much confiscated the entire TV for their own TV service, so I couldn't change the source on the TV. I didn't use it in a hotel where he worked because we didn't need another computer with the iPhone and iPad, not even with a huge flat screen. If we were traveling with children we would probably use it more, but in general we still don't usually stay in our rooms very often, with or without children. In short, it works for travel, and if it doesn't, it's not Chromebit's fault.
