My husband is 6ft 2.5" and weighs about 190-195 pounds and is very happy with his Asian XXL American XL cycling shorts. They fit well around his waist, he could be 10-15 pounds heavier and this size would still fit, they don't restrict his waist at all but still stay high. The most important and greatest feature of these cycling shorts is their length! The inseam is longer than any other pair of cycling shorts. It's huge if you have a 34 inch inseam and your shorts barely reach the middle. They're a few inches smaller than his kneecap. What an amazing thing! With other shorts he would have to wear longer athletic compression shorts underneath, and who seriously wants to add that extra layer when it's 90 degrees outside? They work well too, the padding is good, and considering he does about 27 miles on the road and about 17 on the mountain bike, they test pretty well in the comfort department and seem on par with some of his shorts. The fact that they are longer is still his favorite part about them. The white contrast on them is nice fun pop and I like that it might stand out a bit more when it turns out to be driving down the street. I have machine washed and tumble dried them and they are holding up well. Will buy more. My cyclist husband is very satisfied.
