I had a hard time finding a playpen for our two little guinea pigs that wasn't short enough to jump out of, so this playpen was perfect in that regard. It is beautiful and looks very pretty if you have a house as small as mine and have nowhere to "hide” it. I pulled out the coffee table and it's now in our living room. We had a much bigger one but it was such a mess to see. The material is flexible plastic and the bottom and sides are exactly the same material so it won't withstand anything out of the ordinary (one of my dogs has already scratched it on the outside with his paws. Definitely a prettier playpen I've found. and very inexpensive.just put a fleece blanket on the bottom and he doesn't need anything else (note there are gaps between the squares on the bottom but with fleece that's not a problem at all UPDATE: I bought a second set and made another half level for our two guinea pigs and also increased the overall length of the handle by another square.. don't want to watch our two big dogs every minute (we can't trust them with our girls yet!) For the ramp, I simply used a piece of wood and wrapped this non-slip grip mat around it for them.. and they climbed to the top level pretty quickly s setup is perfect for our situation and gives our girls plenty of time to play/exercise while we are at home.
