Beware of the Ball Joint - Updated

Just bought my first GPS unit, Magellan RodaMate 1700 and extended mount (thanks Revain Reviews). If I hadn't had the experience of what I buy online I would have sent the GPS back as soon as I opened the box and saw the fancy mount that comes with the GPS. Magellan should be ashamed of a mount that obviously doesn't work. I hope the GPS module works better than the mount. Anyway, I just installed an extended bracket on a 2011 Hyundai Elantra. I'm restricted as to where I can mount it as my state doesn't allow anything to be mounted on a windshield or dash. I ended up installing it on the dash anyway and sliding it forward and down so it was in front of my radio. The suction cup seems to be very durable and I don't expect any problems with it. I have a problem with the ball joint or whatever you call it at the end of the extension. The GPS device remains upright for a few minutes and then slowly tilts forward. I was able to tighten the plastic screw a bit more and so far it hasn't moved in about 30 minutes. I'm hesitant to tighten it further for fear of breaking the plastic thing. I haven't taken it for a walk yet. I think if it rolls over while parking, I probably won't be able to get out of the driveway anyway. That's why I rated it 2 stars. I plan to update this review when I can use an extension cord and it doesn't keep tipping over. I also plan to return it if it fails again. I haven't read where anyone else has this problem and I hope it's just a coincidence or something I'm doing wrong. I've been using the mount for over a year now and it works perfectly. It's still hanging on my dashboard and falls off every now and then, especially in the summer. Not so hot what's up. When I use the alcohol wipes you use to clean glasses they seem to work much better and last a long time. I doubt there is a mountain that could work better.
