I don't claim to be an audiophile but I have and listen to a lot of vinyl and I take care of my phono stage and want to know it's in tune properly. I have always been unhappy with the standard tonearm balancing procedure and bought this mini scale to see how close I came to getting it right. It's nice to actually be able to measure the balance. It turned out that my balance was a bit off. Not much, but now I know it's right. I'm a scientist and I have several calibrated balances in my home and lab. I compared the accuracy of this unit to my two calibrated scales and found it to be very close - <1% deviation - more than accurate enough for its purpose. his life in a desk drawer. It's pretty much a one-off and put away device, but unless you know someone who has one, you pretty much have to buy your own. Luckily, the price is fair and modest, and it pays to know your tonearm is properly adjusted. I suppose if you're still cooped up at home due to COVID, you can always use this to do that Cheerios box weight volatility research you've always wanted to do, or something similarly interesting.
