Review on Conquer the Outdoors with ALTRA ALM1963P Wahweap Running Shoes by Atheendra Wroblewski

These are my favorite hiking shoes. I have no idea why they were ever advertised as running shoes, so that description is a headache. However, they are very comfortable and look decent for everyday use. I've had Altra sneakers for a long time, so I tried this everyday model and I'm very satisfied; and I want to buy them again, BUT I'm concerned about growing quality control/consistency issues with Altra as my girlfriend and I have had large variations in the quality of our sneakers recently (very different lace lengths; differences in how shoes fit and how much they weigh them from pair to pair). Just between us, it's easy to clock up 8,000 miles in Altra running shoes. Also, they've unceremoniously discontinued our popular shoe (Torin 4) so we're a bit disappointed (Rivera is NOT a replacement or an in-kind enhancement; neither is Plush - we've tried both). In any case, fingers crossed, Altra maintains the quality of this line (and doesn't stop producing out of the blue).
