Review on Naturehike 45L Internal Frame Hiking Backpack - Ideal for Outdoor Camping, Travel, and Backpacking for Men by Michael Kosack

Almost ultra-light backpack

I wanted a large and light backpack for night and multi-day tours. I have a lot larger and a few smaller packs from REI and Osprey, but I wanted something lighter that I could take on a winter hike with. It's not big enough for me to carry extra gear for the kids etc but I've really enjoyed it on solo trips. Incidentally noticed that I really liked having a water bottle holder (doesn't hold 1 liter but .750) right on my chest as I never liked bubbles. I know a lot of videos have a mesh back pocket and this is my first backpack to have one. I liked that I could put something like "I want this close" (fluff, spatula, styrofoam, etc.) in and get started. It also allowed me to shed a few layers as I warmed up in the mornings almost in a jiffy. This pack took a little time to adjust the straps and the top weight adjusters never got where I wanted them to. Despite all of this, I've lost a few pounds of my core weight and have more room for extra gear. Given the price compared to the Z-Pack and others, I can't give it less than 5 stars. I'm not ultralight and I still pack some luxuries, but on my last two trips I've focused on reducing weight to make the hike more comfortable and this pack alone has made a huge difference. Finally, I can't confirm the water resistance (without using a cap) but splashes and morning dew weren't an issue. I haven't seen any signs of wear or scuffs, but it's only been driven about 20 miles so I can't comment. It appears to be pretty standard ripstop material, but the difference in weight was worth it.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • thin
