I got this mainly for my back-I've found that slimming belts help support my back (lifelong back issues) without being bulky or too constricting the way a lot of the therapy bands can be. This, although fitting a little small (I'm not exactly petite), is pretty comfortable. The boning it it supports without being too stiff or suffocating & when my lower back is especially painful-it helps take the pressure off. I love the material-very soft, but like all the others-you will get a little sweaty wearing it- but it's easy to hand wash & hang up to dry. Overall, I like this item for the support it gives my back, but hey-if it makes the waist look a little smaller too-all the better! The only thing I would change is, since it does run a little small, is add a couple stretchier panels on the side for a more custom fit.
