After losing the oil cap somewhere between Allentown and Watertown in New York on the 80th the engine compartment started smoking. I stopped at an SMS stop and found the loss. I found a lonely child's backless sandal and an aluminum can. I cut out a circle slightly larger than the threaded hole in the back of the boot and wrapped a can strip around it to bring the threads together. It has driven over a thousand miles without a leak. I was very happy to see that this more fitting cap was waiting for me when I got home. This lid also has a gasket that compresses slightly to keep it in place more securely than the original.
