With minimal pressure on the lid, the ice pack falls onto the food.
I bought this for my kids because I had 1 cup oval containers years ago and they worked really well. However, in these cases, the ice pack falls on the lid with the slightest pressure. All you have to do is press the edges of the lid to keep it from falling even when you close the container, and anything that subsequently touches the center of the lid will detach it. It doesn't really matter for kibble, but I often use these containers for things like hummus or yogurt and it's a total mess. My kids won't eat it, and after that I have to fish out an ice pack from untouched liquid food. Poorly.
