First of all, these are well-made toothbrushes in high-quality plastic cases. They are quite soft, but not as soft as children's toothbrushes. I was curious to know that the bristles are made of charcoal, so I read an article on Healthline. The dentist claims that "this charcoal is a fine-grained fraction obtained from the oxidation of charcoal, olive pits, coconut shells, and other materials." The article states that charcoal can remove stains and inhibit the growth of bacteria on the bristles. However, it is abrasive and can attack tooth enamel. This worries me, so I think I'll alternate using this brush with the usual for now. I will ask my hygienist about this when I go to my next cleaning. The packaging says they are made in China.
