The instructions clearly state that the weight limit is 60 pounds. My Christmas tree weighs 54 pounds (2'dx 2'hx 4'l) according to the box. While the brackets and casters seem more than capable of holding 100 pounds or more, I wouldn't trust the included snap screws to attach them through the drywall to the joists in the ceiling. They don't seem to be long enough, so I added a longer screw to the center hole of each bracket for security. If there wasn't drywall and you were attaching directly to the joist I'd be sure of the included screws. I watched the installation video before purchasing which made it easy to follow the written instructions. I used a double knot at the beginning and end of the rope attachment. The length of rope in this model was more than enough to lift the crate off the ground. I attached the straps and pulleys to the box before installing the brackets to determine the optimal clearance at the ceiling. The straps were also quite long. Care must be taken to ensure the square hole brackets are on the correct side so that the pulleys are properly aligned. I installed the system myself using a good set of socket wrenches and a drill. I have found that the pulley system puts all the weight on the near arm during the lift as the mechanism is identical to blinds. So make sure you have a solid anchor point.
