BEWARE OF FIXED VERTICAL STRIPS IN ALMOST ALL 5D MARK II CAMERAS

Like many others, I bought the 5D Mark II unaware of this hardware issue. After some poking around the web and forums, I found this banding issue (in full-size raw images) to be a common one. Canon only fixed the issue in the in-camera SRAW1 and SRAW II settings, not in full-size RAW images. JPEG users will not see this problem. This problem is visible at 100% viewing and shows up in printouts. For landscape photographers, this is a complete problem. Somehow Canon managed NOT to recall this camera and circumvented the issue by somehow masking the issue in the two smaller raw file sizes I mentioned. For me, the camera is useless if I can't get clean RAW images at the full 21-megapixel resolution. I was dying to return it as I think the Mark II offers so much for the money these days but unfortunately I can't use it and have returned it. Otherwise, I like the camera, the build, the features, etc. for the dollar. However, this vertical striping issue caused by hardware failure is unacceptable and consumers should be aware of it. There may be other reviews here that mention this. Unfortunately I don't have time to read all the reviews of this camera on Revain.
