LED bulbs, the best since Edison. Inexpensive, environmentally friendly and practical. EXCEPT: Sizes over 60 watts equivalent will get expensive. These little splitters come to the rescue, delivering the equivalent of 120 watts from a single output. If you consider that the combined power requirements are still modest, the power consumption is perhaps 18 watts. I haven't seen any problems with circuit breakers. The downside is that even modern lampshades can get cramped. You definitely don't want the bulbs touching the lampshade. So these splitters are actually a temporary gimmick. until the industry starts producing LEDs under $2 at 100 watts.
