-- FLASHING SCREEN SOLVED -- Worth it for those with problem Waveshare 7"-C HDMI 1024x600 LCD Rev 2.1, mine arrived late at night so of course I didn't sleep until I configured and tested it Life has never been so easy Editing /boot/config went without a hitch and mine installed (by commenting out all the overscan and framebuffer entries I use for other LCDs) with: hdmi_group=2hdmi_drive=1hdmi_ignore_edid = 0xa5000080hdmi_mode=87hdmi_cvt=1024 600 60 6 0 0 0 The screen loaded normally and displayed correctly but the backlight kept turning on and off The cycles could change in duration and intervals depending on how I played around with it and I soon found that if I held it with my finger in a certain spot on the back, then the screen would stay up indefinitely. At VERY ge closer inspection with a magnifying glass and strong light, I realized that the 103rd resists op, closest to the upper right corner (when looking at the rear LCD board) was a microcrack. To be more clear, the resistance, which is on the other side of the HDMI and USB connectors, is about the same level. It looks like a tap connected to a ground plane and was probably cracked when installing and soldering. I couldn't dig up a 103 quickly, but I found some 104s on a non-existent CO2 detector/alarm, so I soldered one of those in parallel with a 103. (If you can't solder micro parts, get help. ) It's been a day now and the screen is working fine and stable, and hopefully we all live happily ever after. PS end. I skyped to Waveshare first but they have Chinese time and I don't. To be honest I haven't had time to properly resolve this issue with Waveshare or AMAZON and have attempted to fix it rather than return it. The display obviously failed the quality control before shipping, but now I like it because it works despite the wasted time and effort. In investigating this issue, I've come across many other buyers on the RPi forums with the exact same symptoms, so my problem is not isolated. I would give 5 stars if it worked right away and only 1 star if I didn't fix it. So be warned if you buy it. And Waveshare really needs to step up their quality control game. There is no excuse for that.
