Review on ๐Ÿ”Œ COSORI Electric Kettle: Upgraded Stainless Steel Filter, LED Indicator, Auto Shut-Off, 1.7L Black Tea Kettle & Hot Water Boiler by Chris Hayes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Boils COLD water in 4 minutes. The strainer is metal, not plastic.

Update: .so, yes, as others have reported, about a month or so after using it all of a sudden it wouldn't turn on. No light, no heat. But I'm not one to sit back and accept failure as my new reality. No Siri! If I throw something away I will find out why it failed so I can fix it. In this case the first ring around the protruding pin in the middle of the bottom of the carafe is rusted. Rust will block the flow between the base and the jug, preventing the device from working effectively. If you place the pot at a different angle (e.g. place the pot with your other hand), it may work. Anyway, I just used a fine sand sponge and sanded the rust away. Steel wool can also work; but in any case it is a very precise and microscopic work. After sanding the rust off, I blew off the remaining rust and added a thin coat of coconut oil to prevent further rusting. So far, so good. I've added photos to show rust. White spots in the pan appear when you have hard water. Hey, you never heard people complain about stains in the cauldron in the 16th century, did you? Of course not! These lucky ones didn't have to deal with water stains because they carried water from a stream and poured it into an iron cauldron. I'm sure you can find an iron cauldron on Revane. I don't know where the nearest stream to you is. Maybe Google Maps can show you. OR you can buy white vinegar or just pretend there are no stains. Small update: as I correct typos that I didn't notice earlier, I say that today, June 14, 2021, coconut oil doesn't seem to be giving up. I added a little more but the kettle hasn't stopped or started since I applied the first thin coat. ๐Ÿ™‚Previous Rating: Love it! My last water heater almost set my house on fire, it was leaking and water was sloshing out of the spout. This boiler pours very smoothly and boils 1 liter of COLD water in four minutes. I didn't time the hot water, but I confirm it will take less than four minutes. Blue light is ok; not as spectacular as I thought. But I didn't buy it for fun. The strainer with spout slides forward to cover the spout when you close the lid. When you open the lid it has a spring that allows you to lower the strainer to fill it with water. It doesn't stay down, but it doesn't break off when you try to fill the carafe, which I assume was its purpose. It's made of metal, so you don't have to worry about poisoning your family with spilled plastic chemicals. In fact, nothing that comes in contact with liquid is made of plastic. The handle and the outer part of the lid are made of plastic to protect against burns. Sometimes I had to use a silicone tack to support the base when pouring, but I wouldn't deduct a point for that. It has NO temperature control. but you CAN watch it boil and you can probably judge when that temperature is right for you by the effect of the water and the reaction. Over time you will become a pro and determine the right tea temperature. I really like this teapot and would recommend it to my grandmother if she were still alive to use it. The price is good for the product. I would babysit if I were you. You don't know when the price will go up. I have a streak. So if something goes wrong with the pot after posting this review I will be sure to come back to post the issues. Currently works great!
