Filter was too small

The included filter was 3/16" shorter than my 64T Bird. Same design just smaller. Maybe it's for Trance FX or FMX but it doesn't fit my MX. The gasket fit fine and my old filter wasn't too bad so I cleaned it and reused it.I was in the transmission for a shift problem, not for the express purpose of changing the oil.
