Review on ๐Ÿ“บ Samsung 82-inch Q800T QLED TV - True 8K Resolution, Direct Full Array 32X, Quantum HDR 16X, Alexa Built-in (QN82Q800TAFXZA, 2020 Model) by David Roberts

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fantastic screen, 1 less than the flagship model

I replaced a 10 year old 65 inch plasma. It sits wider and has a significantly thinner bezel (mm vice-inches). . On, and the screen is 1/3 bigger! CORONA is going crazy, so the streaming services are reducing the resolution. The inputs are on the right side of the TV, 5 feet from my A/V stand. I needed longer HDMI cables with higher bandwidth here in a few days. Then I can really see what the 75-inch Q800t is capable of. 2020 was a good year for TVs. I hope to own this in 10 years like my old plasma. One last note for now: I really like the remote control and I'm digging into the UI. Trolls 2 last night. Best family movie night ever. The more the better. The jump from 1080p to 4k is quite noticeable on my front row. HDR is. probably even more impressive than the upscaling. I feel like HDR is the next generation of Darbee. Anyone remember this? I have this on my Oppo Blu-ray player and it makes the colors pop. When something lights up on the screen. it's so bright. I can turn off my Roku. This TV does almost everything by itself. Just for fun, the coax input is connected to my circa 1995 Atari Jaguar, heh. The kids love my old games. I enjoy 4k HDR! The only downside was that the box was too big to fit in my attic, so I had to make room in the garage. That's a flaw I can live with happily. Update #2; 11 Sep 2020Wow, I'm sorry for the consumers who had a bad experience. I have a few degrees in optics, so I know a bit about what the human eye can see. My TV is fine. The more I work with it, the more options/possibilities open up to me. I may have some regrets that I bought the 75" instead of the 82", but in the spring there was a $2,000 price difference! As I said, it's significantly larger than the 65-inch Panasonic I replaced. This set outperforms plasma in every way. Now it's time to upgrade from 7.2 to adding 4 Atmos ceiling ducts! I don't deserve my wife. She is an angel, I also replaced my old trusty Denon X4000 with a new 2020 X3700. Back then, only Denon supported HDMI 2.1 8k with their AVRs. There may be more now, but I'm loving getting to know the new Denon. My 4 environments. The 60-pound, 3-channel Emotiva takes over my front soundstage. I took another Emotiva amp to drive four Atmost ceiling speakers. Killing, no doubt, but that's what hobbies are for!
