Before I bought my new buddy and best friend Scooter, a yellow labrador retriever, I scoured the internet for the best puppy food for Labs and Diamond was in the top 3 and I chose it because my breeder recommended it (that's all she ever fed her litters). The key point, in my opinion, is that puppy food is completely balanced. The scooter didn't have to change brands as it just moved. He is 18.5 weeks old and weighs the ideal 37.5 pounds and is consistently growing well at optimal weight. He gets 1 cup of Diamond puppy food 3 times a day and a few treats for training. His treats consist of apple chunks, cheddar cheese chunks, baby carrot chunks, and wellness "puppy bites" (50 calories a day or less). I highly recommend Diamond - if he's good enough for Scooter, my AKC lab, then he should be good enough for every other pup "out there" as well.
