I put a 45mm pulley on the motor. I think it is necessary. The speed is very easy to control. I like the fact that the motor and controller are separate. My biggest complaint is when the engine is under load as it starts jerking at low revs. It still spins, but twitches violently. The slowest you can set the controller to is 500 RPM. But when you step on the pedal, it spins at 200 RPM. At that speed, you will experience stuttering. I used to have a brush servo motor. It didn't twitch, but with the same load, the brushed motor stalled. I have two of these engines
