this case is very protective. I have two of these devices for each of my kids' iPads, and they've handled all kinds of abuse really well. If you have your own screen protector it will make it a little harder to use the touchscreen as the case also has a built in screen protector so you will try to register touches through 2 panels instead of 1 resulting in you having to press harder on the screen to register the touch. The stand is great too. It swivels and opens and closes with ease, and the best part is that it doesn't open or close, so you can't pinch your skin like some other models. Attaching and removing is easy as long as you have a flimsy tool to open the clips and I didn't use the included shoulder strap so can't comment on that. Overall I will say that I have reviewed dozens of iPad cases and this one is the best I have reviewed for kids. As an adult who takes better care of their devices than my kids, I wouldn't buy this for myself but for a small child.
