Review on πŸ’ͺ ASUS ROG Strix Arion Lite Portable External M.2 SSD by Noe Miceli

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best M.2 external enclosure I've ever seen.

There is so much amazing in this case. I bought 4 outer cases at once and this is the only one I've come back from and bought a second one. This is the best M.2 case I've ever used. If the disc has a thick metal label, this case will not close properly. If you see reviewers say "it opens" or something like that, it's because of the stickers on the disc used. I had a Sabrent Rocket that I had to remove the copper sticker from to get this ROG case to close properly. It's just very. very. skintight. However, when it does close, the drive stays secure and stays cool even under heavy use as the case acts like a giant heatsink. All the other cases I've bought (about half the price of this one) have their own problems. Either A) they are not steep enough to prevent throttling. B) The connection terminals are not secure and can be damaged to lose connection. C) The drive is not securely placed inside and cannot fall, while in this Asus case I wouldn't even flinch if I fell on concrete. They made it in different colors to make it easier to distinguish between several. I make videos every day and transfer hundreds of gigabytes of data, so I can't just use a regular case with minor issues. I need serious things that work consistently and reliably. It does the job well.

Pros
  • Robust finish
Cons
  • Infinitely slow
