USB-C charges one device at a time

So I bought this power strip as it has 2 USB-C ports to charge my iPhone 12 and new Apple Watch at the same time. When plugged in, the iPhone will stop charging as soon as you charge your Apple Watch. When I turn off the watch, my phone charges. It kind of defeats the purpose of having two USB-C ports when you can only use them individually. :(
