Reacher digital alarm clock review with Radio.TL;DR - Decent, reliable clock. Does everything he says. USB ports only 1a each (not listed anywhere). Just a few cons (none of them show me the stubs) but they are mentioned at the end of the review. I give 4.5 (rounded up to 5) stars. FULL Review Actually bought two of these units, one in white (B07TDRY4BW), one in black (B088GT1G9T). You'll have to find another color because it doesn't show up as a suggestion on the page (weird, huh?). Duplicate this review on another site. That's why photos sometimes show black and sometimes white clocks. These are nice simple little clock radios. All the buttons are (mostly) intuitive and not some cryptic instructions like "stand on your head, rub your tummy, press these three buttons at the same time." Rather, if you want to set the time, click "Time" once set" (clever, huh?), change the hour, click again, change the minutes, a third time, done. Oh, and it's done with a spin button at the top, so step forward or backward to move the numbers up or down. The radio actually sounds decent for its speaker size and the reception is good too (note: I live in the city, not in the country, so the reception is usually good). Full blackout - this was the biggest feature I wanted. There is an analog/rotary control on the back to increase or decrease the brightness of the LEDs. Basically, I like everything but total darkness, and this watch allows me to do that. I don't have to settle for 1, 2, or 4 brightness settings that are still too bright. I can set it to what I perceive as 5% and the clock doesn't light up. LED color. While the LED appears blue in some images, it is mostly white. The camera records when the lighting is at its maximum. Lower the settings and the camera perceives it as blue. USB Powered - So the clock comes with a USB brick (2.0 amp). They go from an outlet on the back (the standard DC adapter style) to a USB box for power. Interestingly, I have a USB socket on the wall, so I removed the brick and plugged it straight into a USB wall socket. USB ports. So there are two USB ports on the back. The website doesn't list the amps, but I can confirm that 1 amp seems to be the maximum for each. As you will see in the photos, I took several measurements both with and without the wall wart. With wall warts I got about 0.81g every hour. WITHOUT the wall wart I was getting 0.67 to 0.69g per hour. The clock itself only draws 0.06A (or 0.13 with the radio on). So I don't know why they couldn't design them to output more amps. Wall socket for mobile phone. Both generated about 1.11 amps each, so the watch will limit the current when it reaches the watch. Alarm. The clock can be set to the radio or several other preset sounds (flute, annoying old-style phone ringing, etc.). The cool thing about the watch is that the volume of the alarm is independent of the volume of, say, listening to music. So, I can have the radio volume at 19 normally, I set my alarm for 12 (I think you can go for 40, eek!). Two separate shots, which is nice. battery backup. Therefore, the clock requires three (3) AAA batteries for backup power. Interestingly, the clock still lights up when turned off, the radio and USB ports DO NOT work on battery power for those wondering. Now a few things that could be improved. The temperature is not exactly in Fahrenheit. Basically they did the conversion from native Celsius and rounded up to a whole number. Examples: 21c = 69.8f - clock shows 6922c = 71.6f - clock shows 7123c = 73.4f - clock shows 7324c = 75.2f - clock shows 75 So you will never see 70, 72, 74 or an even number, but you won't see it Press 26c (that's 78.8 and the clock shows 78f) - no low battery indicator. If the batteries are low or dead, you won't know. - No need to tune into radio stations manually, other than simply scanning them all and saving them automatically. If you don't want ALL stations to be scanned, just your favorites, it's not possible (which I can tell). All in all a decent watch for the money. Looks solid and works as advertised. I've had it up and running for about a month now and would recommend it to others if the temperature readings aren't too much of a problem.
