If doing a DIY installation, pry off the C or H caps on the top of the handles and loosen the Phillips head screws that secure the top of the handle to its base. They are factory tightened to prevent the handles from turning easily. Otherwise you will go insane and Delta Customer Service had no idea this was a common problem. I bought two and both had this problem. The quick connect hoses are also very difficult to remove so make sure you connect the base to the spout which comes in a separate sealed bag before connecting the hoses! The installation diagrams provided with this mixer do not clearly show this step. Finally, the installation guide shows two serrated washers between the bottom of the sink and the nut that attaches the spout to the sink. These faucets come with only one metal washer (the other should probably be used as a washer with a rubber grommet which is also notched for a pop up drain but is not included). You don't need that other washing machine to install, but it may drive you crazy looking for one!
