Review on πŸ”§ TEKTON 6-Point Impact Socket - Model SID23120 by Born Waheed

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent purchase! - Custom sockets

I had to replace CV boots on a 2007 Tacoma. This bushing was used to remove and reinstall the axle nut. It worked great and cost the same as a chrome (non-impact) 12 point head from my local auto parts store. Hexagon sockets are better for impact work. The price-performance ratio of this 35 mm deep Tekton 1/2 Drive X impact socket is hard to beat! Tekton manufactures sockets in this size class (35-38 mm) in 4140 Cr-Mo. Chrome-molybdenum couplers and extensions must be plated to resist corrosion. These outlets are from overseas where hygiene standards may vary slightly. I often use these outlets with my bare hands. Tooling forums often recommend using oils like WD-40 and T-9 to coat and protect the heads. All of these products contain nasty petroleum distillates, which I try to avoid. Consider coating the sockets and extensions with an olive or vegetable oil spray (like Pam), it's cheap and works great.

Pros
  • 6-point hole provides precision fit for hex fasteners
