We have a series of ceramic dishes that started to overheat in the microwave. I've been told that this is because moisture gets into the ceramic bowl over time and therefore it heats up when you put it in the microwave. When we remove these dishes from the microwave, they are too hot to touch (however, the food is barely warm) and often crack and break. We were thinking about switching to Corelle, so I bought a set to try. Here are my thoughts: - The harness is thin but incredibly durable. They are made of glass and behave like Pyrex in the microwave. They get hot, but not unbearably hot (and the food gets hot, too, unlike ceramic dishes). So in that regard, they're a huge asset. I've heard they are also durable and won't break if dropped - haven't tried them yet. They really solved our problem with the microwave. Because these things are so thin they can be stacked A LOT in a closet. and dishwasher. If you have a family, that's really good. I have 4 plates in the same place as 2 of my ceramic plates. - The style is simple, classic, doesn't yell at you - useful in a good way. - The cups are not made of natural clay. the same glass. They are not made by Corelle. you suck Just drop them. All dishes are a bit small. Now I'm on the fence about it. On the one hand, it helps a bit with portion control โ it seems like you have more food on your plate (or bowl) if it's smaller. And since the design of these suction cups hasn't changed in decades, it's a startling reminder of just how much more food we're used to ending up on our plates. But they feel small. I can't fit more than a standard morning bowl of cereal in one bowl - I need 1.25 bowls of cereal, which is a little annoying. Small plates are really small - they go with basically everything (we often use small plates as children's dinner plates, but that's not so easy with these). The large plates sit between our small and large porcelain stoneware plates, so they're not as big as the ones I'm used to for serving dinner. This is a good size for kids and I'm still trying to like the smaller size but it's not working for me yet. My husband (who eats more than me) doesn't like it at all. Dishes look thin. I know they're durable and the glass finish is really great, but they're so light they seem...well cheap. I'm not sure I want to use them for fun. So at the moment we have 2 sets; our pottery and Corelle. We use Corelle to heat food, but we still use ceramic utensils most of the time, especially when we have guests. I'm not sure where we're landing.
