Works like magic. Almost

I have several dull knives with chips. They're just not worth sharpening. I had a Chinese hatchet that was so blunt it was the weight of paper. This stone is just fantastic, especially for the price and size. Soak the stone for 15 minutes, then take plenty of water with you to keep both the stone and knife moist. This is the suspension that actually sharpens the knife. This only applies to knives with broken edges or no edges at all, like my cleaver. Take the time to watch some YouTube videos. Various techniques were shown but my favorite was the Japanese speaking guy but you could watch the moves he was making.
