My almost 7 year old child is asking for sewing lessons. This set seemed like a good starting point to me. The felt is heavy, the floss is strong. The eye of the needle is big enough for my daughter to thread it herself. There are enough needles in the kit to replace one on every other project, which is good because they warp. The included scissors are terrible but not a hindrance. Our other children's scissors work perfectly. There are several downsides. The thread needed to sew up each dog is long and prone to snagging on ears, tails, etc. The big problem is the details of the sticker. The sticky backing tends to stick to the tear paper rather than the felt. It takes a patient adult with fingernails to remove the paper properly. Despite my concerns, my daughter loves these designs and the end product is fantastic. Just be ready to help your young nearers.
