I have been using medical syringes for about 40 years so I am familiar with them. However, I bought this syringe to fuel my kerosene/oil lanterns, which I have many. Now, here in Arizona, I see that medical syringes are readily available, but I was suspicious of the o-ring that seals them, so I bought these. I'm a pretty strong guy with strong hands and at first I thought he wasn't going to open! Takes really strong cravings - not for a week. The filling of Dietz tube lanterns worked great, much cleaner than handling different funnels. Since this is a relatively new application, I appreciate the advice given here that it is recommended not to close it completely. That's why I love reading reviews here!
