Review on Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Fixed Lens - Discontinued by Manufacturer by Lin Wei-Yin ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good product, I advise you to try it.

Bought to replace a failed whale (18-55). Compared to a whale, it is faster, lighter and noisier. When photographing using a tripod, in not very bright rooms, I noticed that the picture is better (it seems that autofocus does not smear so often, it's just that my hands are shaking and the picture is a little blurry). Helios 44-3 (58/2) on a "dandelion" with an f2 hole gives more pleasant bokeh, but you can't shoot children with it. Fifty dollars + continuous shooting solves the problem of quickly photographing a new "achievement" of a child. Out of 4-5 frames, there is always one worthy home photo album :)

Pros
  • Price (bought on stock for 2300). Aperture 1.8. Nimble. Small.
Cons
  • There is no sense of security. Noisier than a whale. Autofocus when shooting handheld often smears on large holes.
