Good, but can be finicky

I'm very pleased with this unit. It's exactly what I needed for a basement hallway. It senses great, actuates predictably (most of the time) and was almost no trouble installing. The only issues I have with it are as follows:1. The PIR lens doesn't like to stay in place. It's very easy to inadvertently make it fall off.2. The relay that actuates the light is pretty loud when it actuates. If my ceiling were taller perhaps the sound wouldn't be so loud but I would think there would be some way to attenuate the loud "click" it makes, even just a little.3. We had this very strange occurrence where the power was shut off to the motion sensor so the space could be painted and then it wouldn't turn back on. It really threw our electrician for a loop. It worked perfectly well prior to painting. They masked it off and flipped the power switch to the lights (thus cutting power to the motion sensor) and then when they were done painting, they flipped the wall switch back on and the motion sensor wouldn't register any motion detected. It acted like it had no power. We ordered a second unit after a few days to see if it was the unit or the wiring but before the replacement arrived it spontaneously started working again without anyone touching it or any part of the circuit. In total it acted dead for about a week or so before it started working again. Very strange.Other than those issues, one of which I'm scared to try to reproduce, the unit works very well and I'm pleased with it.

Pros
  • Work just as good as the namebrand
Cons
  • Difficulty in finding replacement parts or repair services
