I've been using one of these for years and after a few screen and anode changes I found that the solar panel is no longer doing anything. This Sunset Solar Ionizer has a better design because the spiral spring is a detachable element. I doubt it will ever need to be replaced, but being able to take it off for cleaning is very handy. I also like the LED to indicate that the solar panel is working. This is an upgrade from my old device. They release copper ions into the water. These copper ions kill bacteria and algae when there are enough of them in the water. You can sometimes dye blonde hair green, something to keep in mind if you have hair.
