Our new chairs had nails in hard plastic cases that could really scratch the floor. I've tried gluing on felt pads with little success. These things will not stay with normal use. My web search led me to these pretty, well designed chair leg guards. The design looked good so I ordered a pack of 16 to try them out. As long as they work properly. I removed the unwanted nails from the pillows and placed them on the chairs. It was easy and quick. As long as they do their job. Their larger size increases the contact area of the chair legs, spreading the load and reducing pounds per square inch. It is better for both the chair leg and the floor. The adhesive holding the felt pads seems to hold them securely in place. Let's see how it goes over time. But I'm optimistic now because I have a permanent solution. Update: Ordered 24 more of these to complete six stools as well as our bar stools. It's early days but I think this is indeed a permanent solution.
