Review on Elmers Carpenters Filler 3 25 Ounce Walnut by Frank Dubey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best wood putty knife I've ever used is for wood and chipboard.

This is by far the best wood putty knife I have ever used. It's thick and pliable, almost like bondo but without the mix and match. We had large cavities at the base of the kitchen cabinet frame and a bathroom cabinet shelf made from cheap composite board that was partially destroyed by liquids. I used a tube for everything and let 2-3 coats dry overnight. Just squeeze it out and flatten/flatten it out with a piece of thin cardboard like a business card. Once the last coat was dry I used my rotary sander to smooth and level everything in minutes and it's now ready for painting. No fuss, no fuss. I had my doubts that this would stick to the chipboard, but really, it rejuvenated the shelf like new.

Pros
  • Dries and cures quickly - Resists shrinkage and cracking
Cons
  • Has flaws
