Carbon/Zinc Batteries. Old technique. The lifespan is much, much shorter than today's alkaline batteries - about ten times shorter. The electrolyte is acidic. So if you leave these batteries installed for a long time, they will corrode and leak acid, destroying the device you installed them in. I'm surprised these types of batteries are still being made. You won't save money if you buy these instead of alkaline batteries because the lifespan is very short.
