I completely disassembled the lamp and painted it white. I sanded all surfaces to be painted with 220 grit sandpaper, washed with soap and water, then applied a rustoleum primer and rustoleum white top coat. Then I had to put together all the little pieces that were already lined up if you leave the paint as is. However, it didn't matter much. I had to be careful installing it as the paintwork could scratch easily, but I got it off with no visible (to others) scratches. I had a few issues with the installation, probably related to me replacing the lamp. Looks great, perfect for my daughter's very feminine room. The photos show the light with the lights dimmed so you can see the light better.
