Better IR than expected - no hotspots and wide coverage

Item arrived well packaged and undamaged. Nothing dangled in the lantern's metal casing. I used to have several of those Chinese headlights with loose objects rolling around, which bothered me. This one was solid and seemed of decent quality. In any case, everything about it works. All IR LEDs work. I use this IR in addition to the Nest Outdoor Cam's built-in IR, which is very weak. This worked better than expected. The coverage in my yard is wide with no discernible hotspots. This creates a very nice IR flood effect, providing light at about 100 feet away and about 100 feet wide. It came with an AC adapter that I plugged into an outside outlet about a meter from the light source. I noticed after about 7 hours of use that it doesn't feel warm. Barely warm to the touch. The ambient light sensor works great with the IR light turning on at dusk and off at dawn. So after about a week of use. I'll give an update a few months into our South Dakota winter to see how it holds up. crossed fingers At night you can clearly see the soft glow of 12 red LEDs. Any cracker will notice this and probably be confused as to what it is. Looks kind of scientific. So far it's worth the $39 I paid and I'm happier than I thought it would be.
