This was our first foray into making homemade espresso and after a quick tutorial, some experimentation and a bit of research on youtube I think it's a great machine! It's easy to use, the controls are basic, and after five days of fiddling and sifting through lots of coffee beans, I can reliably brew a great espresso. Realize that you need practice and experimentation to get the hang of it. The process isn't just about pushing a button and backing out. You are an active part of the success or failure of the outcome, but it's all part of the fun. A special note: Two sets of filters are supplied with this machine. I've had MUCH better success with the double wall filters. The manual says they're best used with pre-ground coffee, but they give me the best result with any type of coffee (better flavor and smoother crema), so I'd go for them. I think the reviewers who complain that this machine is too loud (some make it sound like it's a jet engine for a loud scream) are grossly exaggerating. I don't think it's that loud. In the end I am very happy with this machine and I hope you are too.
