Quality machine, easy to use.

What a beautiful car! I bought it for my wife for Valentine's Day. She uses it every day and loves how it makes espresso. I took it to my office one Friday and took about a dozen pictures for my colleagues. They were impressed. I decided to go a little broke when I bought this car. I looked at other devices for around $200 but they seemed cheaply made. This machine is built to last. We have a Breville juicer and a panni press. Both have served us well. I have a Breville kettle in my office…

Machine shakes when using steam function

Bought this on Cyber Monday for a good price but received a broken machine. When I use the steam function, the machine shakes and bounces on the countertop. You can clearly hear the "bang-bang" sound from the video I uploaded. As this was my first time using an espresso machine, I searched YouTube and watched a number of videos of the same model, but I never heard such a noise in any of the videos. I then contacted the support center but could not solve the problem. I tried to contact the…

Floats like an animal!: Coffee, Tea and Espresso

Just upgraded to Breville Duo after my Cafe Roma died. Time will tell if money equals longevity. I found it good that the steam wand can be swiveled to the side for larger pots. The frothed milk for my latte (I use almond milk) was so thick and creamy it stood on a spoon! Yes, first you need to pour some water into another cup. I had to do this with roms too. I kept the jug from this model and use it for water before steaming. The razor's hard for the perfect puck (listen to me, I'm a barista).

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Obsolete model

Update: This machine makes a great latte (my favorite drink). I'm very satisfied, even though I've only had this car for a few weeks. One of the reasons my wife and I love to treat friends and family is the way we prepare the food and drinks we serve. That's where this espresso machine comes in and I'm impressed. Even though I screwed up the grind and didn't get the crema I see in the video, the latte I make is still great (I'd appreciate some tips on how to make the perfect portion!). The…

Double wall filter clogs within 3 weeks

I bought this machine from amazon.com on April 18, 2018 and received it on April 24th. Today, May 15, 2018, espresso coffee no longer comes through the double filter or the double-walled two-cup basket. I called Breville support and we ran a test to see if the car was full. We use pre-ground coffee and are quite skinny, the coffee doesn't seem to be a problem and according to the support rep I was surprised it would happen within 3 weeks of using it. But the agent recommended that I boil the…

Excellent espresso after learning

This was our first foray into making homemade espresso and after a quick tutorial, some experimentation and a bit of research on youtube I think it's a great machine! It's easy to use, the controls are basic, and after five days of fiddling and sifting through lots of coffee beans, I can reliably brew a great espresso. Realize that you need practice and experimentation to get the hang of it. The process isn't just about pushing a button and backing out. You are an active part of the success or…

Just a complete mess of the machine

To be honest I hate this machine really . It's such a huge mess to use. It lets water through at an incredible rate and that's part of the design! It even comes with a drip tray to catch any leaks, but it needs to be emptied literally every two uses. And when emptying, it's almost impossible to prevent a spill. If you have a 100% waterproof, stain-resistant counter, that's probably fine. For everyone else, this is a serious design flaw. Also not satisfied with the temperature of the coffee. I…

The BREVILLE BES810BSS Duo Temp Pro espresso machine is the bomb

I've spent a lot of time reviewing coffee makers online and in many different stores and looking at them in person. I have to say that this Breville espresso machine has exceeded my wildest dreams. I've owned this machine for two months now and my wife and I do 3-4 double shots every day. If you want a simple design with minimal controls, this is the machine for you. He's very good at taking pictures and I have to say he's as good or better than any coffee shop I've ever been to. Cleaning is…

2 Year Review - Update

**UPDATE: After 2 years, Duo Temp is still working with no problems . I bought mine for $300, at that price it's worth it. Since then, the price has increased significantly to $450. If I had to buy it for $450 today I would buy the Gaggia Classic Pro which is better overall once you get over the learning curve. probably the best choice as you get a lot for the price ($300). It's hard to get a good shot, but if you have a decent grinder and take the time to work on your technique, you'll be…

Love it - nice upgrade from Delonghi

My daughter received this amazing little Delonghi machine (price $100) and I immediately fell in love with making espresso and frothing milk for lattes. Your machine makes milk insanely foamy, so I started looking at other machines. Friends have highly recommended the Breville Barista but I already have a good coffee grinder so paying extra for it was foolish. This is a sister model to the Barista - basically the same machine, minus the coffee grinder. Assembly was very easy and the…
