Review on JBL E55BT Black Over-Ear Wireless Headphones by Michael Lightfoot

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good headphones though.

Before I bought these headphones, I was wearing a pair of JBL headphones that were on sale for $35 (I think they normally go for $135). Made from high quality materials, these headphones were my first headphones with an interchangeable AUX cable, although it wasn't wireless. This pair of headphones went through hell and back. At one point I even dropped them in an oil filled fryer filter and they continued to work for years afterwards! The sound quality was slightly better, underscoring the fact that this is "lifelike" and doesn't add extra unnecessary bass to your music. The materials were. maybe not as amazing as my old couple. There was a feeling that less metal and more plastic held things together, although I liked the extra soft padding that looked like it could hold up for a while. To top it off, these are my first pair of Bluetooth headphones (yeah, crazy considering it's 2020, right?), but they still manage to keep a detachable AUX cord should you need it. Well! And my concerns about rapid battery drain simply weren't present here. I needed them to listen to music several hours a day and they did just that! Unfortunately they didn't last very long after slipping off while working. He hit the ground and the headphones flew away. It turns out. Headphones and speakers are the same! So the speaker literally jumped out of my headset while every other pair I've ever had could get away with a scratch and be fine. In any case, it worked for a while since the wiring was still connected. But not for long. I guess it follows that I was thrilled that JBL is a quality brand at a reasonable price that anyone can afford, but while the sound quality has improved somewhat in recent years, perhaps not so much the build quality. It might be fine for general use, but as a very active person who's constantly moving and bending over to pick things up at work, I need something durable. Can I recommend them to someone? Yes, but maybe not at full price. They were still doing exactly what they were supposed to do, just not for me.

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
