This would be a great product without the battery. The battery is an old fashioned nickel metal hydride battery with a small energy capacity. You won't get more than one inflation/deflation cycle before needing a top up. Without a good battery, you'd be better off sending your mattress for recycling as it will let you down when you're tired and need sleep. Buy some memory foam pillows instead. The air bed fails after 1 year and a day. . The internal structure is falling apart, causing the mattress to bulge severely in this area. Maybe it happened on a hot, sunny day. This mattress is not durable as they say. Since the concept and intent are irreplaceable, I had to buy another one after a year. So I spent over €500. I'm not sure if I made the right decision. I ordered and received a new identical mattress. After being inflated and used once, it deflated after about 2+ hours. I checked everything with soapy water for a tight fit, including the seams. I found a large leak in the seam under the wheel arch. I will be returning these for a replacement. So I got my replacement and it lasted 364 days and now it's deflated and completely useless. A day less than a year and it's gone. I was very careful not to over inflate, but it just couldn't withstand light use. The problem is the quality. Absence. Save yourself the hassle and just buy a memory foam pad or two.
