Review on Pioneer CD Digital Music Player - Classic Edition by David Tison

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Update but still fur.

While I'm not 100% thrilled with this head unit, it does the job. The display is incredibly dark no matter what color you choose. I haven't really tried the CD player, but who else uses CDs. Bluetooth connectivity can be cumbersome and inconsistent, and range is short. When I get out of the car and stand near the door, it starts to lower and get out. I find the remote too big and the button names confusing, why isn't there a Play/Pause/Connect button? Finally, and this is probably more of an app than a device, Pandora's playback is suspect. Sound quality is everywhere, one song is very quiet, another is loud, equalizer settings are different for each song, suuppeerr annoying. It seems things aren't that bad with Google Play, but this device doesn't have it built in. Overall I'm happy, especially with my old Sony which didn't have bluetooth, all the buttons didn't work anymore and it still has my Busta Rhymes CD in it (I want that CD back btw). Update: The unit died unceremoniously, now only plays music through the subwoofer for maybe 30 seconds, then throws an amp error and becomes completely unusable until you restart the machine. After some research I took my car apart, looked for a short somewhere in the wiring and found there was nothing there. The first time he died I let him work for a few minutes and the next time I got in the car he died again. They don't even make this unit so it probably doesn't matter anymore other than the fact that I would think twice about Pioneer head units. I've had 3 different Pioneer units, one and two din, all with Bluetooth and some with CD playback. They all died after a few months/years. I spent about +$300 on two of them and now they're no good shh. From now on I will probably switch to Kenwood or Alpine.

Pros
  • Nice little thing
Cons
  • There are nuances
