The size fit a little even when ordering by foot size measured in inches and centimeters. We had to exchange the first pair for a smaller size that fit better. My LO immediately stuck to the shoe. The velcro is easy enough for him to do himself and tighten tightly. The outsole is flexible and grippy so it doesn't feel like a cheap foam/synthetic outsole that slips and slides in the rain. We wore them on play dates and as casual shoes with khakis and a polo. It's not the only pair of shoes in the rotation so I can't comment on durability in everyday use,
