Review on Enhance Control and Comfort with RC Pets Martingale Training Dog Collar by Norma Hoffman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

New favorite collar

Bought 5 months ago for my dog who has run out of flat collars several times. This collar has held up very well since I first put it on her and has successfully prevented her from slipping out. There are a few signs of wear (the RC dog is half worn, the edges of the collar are a little fuzzy) but I don't think I'll need to change it any time soon. One of the reasons I bought this collar from other brands is because this one looked more durable and functional - like it wouldn't slip and didn't need to be adjusted every other day. I'm glad to find out I was right. I take the collar off before swimming (loosen it before taking it off, tighten it after I put it back on) and every time the plastic adjuster is in the same place it hasn't moved an inch. I'm a bit concerned because the collar left a black ring on my dog's white neck and was a bit difficult to wash off. So it may be best to wash it before putting it on the dog. For a proper fit, you should measure your dog's neck just below the ears and not halfway to the shoulders. I bought the large one first because I measured the middle of my dog's neck and got 18 inches. It couldn't be adjusted to 14 inches just behind her ears, so I changed it to a medium size (which fits perfectly). The D ring was too thick for me to do. This wasn't a problem for me as I had a strong clip lying around that I use to attach her tags. You may have to improvise like I did or buy a clip specifically designed for attaching ID tags.

Pros
  • Slip & martingale collars
Cons
  • Good but not great
